Constantine, the ancient Cirta, the citadel of the Numidian kings, has inscribed in the rock the whole epic of ecological upheavals. This city in eastern Algeria is built on a majestic rock located on both sides of Oued Rhumel. It is thus surrounded by real natural obstacles. It is the city of vertigo thanks in particular to its canyon, its escarpments, and its bridges built in the colonial era. Alexandre Dumas experienced this emotion when visiting it: “a cry of admiration, almost of stupor at the bottom of the dark gorges on the crest of a mountain bathed in the last reddish reflections of a setting sun, appeared a fantastic city. Something like GULIVER ISLAND”.

Day 03

CONSTANTINE - GUELMA - TIDDIS - CONSTANTINE

Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure for a course of about 120 km towards the city of Guelma. It was a Numidian city, before becoming a municipality under Trajan and a Roman colony towards the end of the 3rd century AD. It was the seat of a bishopric from the beginning of the 4th century, and had several bishops, including Donatius, Megalius and Possidius. You will discover in particular its theater which offers a splendid panorama of the city and its hot springs, already used long before the Romans rediscovered them, for their therapeutic virtues.

Return towards Constantine and our hotel: on the return trip, stop at Tiddis, located 40 km west of Constantine
