The Hoggar or Ahaggar is at the heart of the Sahara. It is a circular massif dominated by a kind of plateau, the Atakor, with an average altitude of 2000 m, bristling with peaks reaching almost 3000m. We discover the plateau of Assekrem with the hermitage of Father de Foucauld. Itineraries

Day 01

EUROPE - TAMANRASSET

Flight to Tamanrasset, on a scheduled flight via Algiers. HAS
your arrival, welcome and support by our local team
Tuareg. Transfer to hotel or hostel.
Overnight in Tamanrasset.

Day 02

TAMANRASSET - ASSEKREM

After breakfast, formation of the expedition and departure in 4x4,
with the guide in the volcanic and mysterious country of the
blue men by a track strewn with rocky cones offering
prestigious panoramas in the Atakor massif. This first
morning will be marked by an impressive discovery and
emblematic: the peak of Iharen. Along the way, we will discover
also the Neolithic “Aderni” tomb in Oued Mezoulit,
rock carvings and gueltas. Arrive late afternoon at
refuge. Dinner and night at the refuge.

Day 03

ASSEKREM - HIRAFOK - IDELES

In the morning after breakfast, departure by road to the Gueltas on
the Tergui village of Hirafok, a rock engraving station located
in an area with abundant vegetation. Lunch in Hirafok.
In the afternoon, we discover rock engravings and paintings
present in the region, near Oued Zarzoura, Immaara. We
continue our cultural journey through Oued Irharrar, which
will reveal rock carvings and paintings on panels
rocky along the track that will take us to Ideles. Arrival at
sunset.
Installation of the bivouac.
Dinner and night in Ideles.

Day 04

IDELES - TAZROUK

In the morning after breakfast, departure for Tazrouk by the mountain
Taderaz. Tazrouk, the hottest village of Hoggar, is famous thanks to
the richness of its gardens and its oasis: a strange and
miraculous vegetation flourishes there constantly in the heart of a site
wild and fabulous at the same time. We will have lunch at Oued Azrou. In
in the afternoon we will visit the surroundings that offer a show
unusual and wonderful.
Installation of the bivouac oriented on the Aokassit, one of the finest
rocky needles of Hoggar. Dinner and night in Tazrouk.

Day 05

TAZROUK - TAHIFET - TAMEKREST

In the morning, after breakfast, departure for Tahifet by the pass
of Azrou. The impressive and difficult track descends in slope and
follows the course of the wadis. This morning expedition will take us to
Tahifet, a very large village in a green valley. We
have lunch on the premises. In the afternoon, we will continue
direction of Tamekrest, where the water flows on a bottom of pink granite,
giving a seaside touch to this mineral world.
Installation of the bivouac at the foot of the waterfall. Dinner and night in Tamekreste.

Day 06

TAMEKREST - TAMANRASSET

Breakfast at sunrise and departure in 4x4 by the track of
Tamanrasset. Arrival at the end of the morning and installation in pension
complete at the hotel or hostel. In the afternoon we will visit
Tamarasset, called the red city, capital of Hoggar.

Day 07

TAMANRASSET

Free day with full board to discover the curiosities of the
town of Tamanrasset, and do some shopping.
Overnight at hotel or hostel in Tamanrasset.

Tamanrasset:
Tamanrasset, the red city, is located in the extreme south of the country, it
covers an area of ​​557,906 km2, i.e. a quarter of the territory
national. It is at the heart of the movement of the populations of the region
and the main crossroads of trade between North Africa and the
southern countries. You will have plenty of time to discover its neighborhoods
lively, its colorful African market where groceries mingle,
fabric squares…, its museum exhibiting all the natural wealth and
human of Hoggar. You can also visit the Soro Moussa Ag
Amastane, vestige of a construction built in a Saharan style and
with traditional materials. Built by Amenokal Moussa Ag
Amastane around 1916-1918, and having served as a place of residence for
the Amenokal. His tomb is not far from the vestige, in a setting
very captivating oasis.

Tuareg society:
The Tuaregs settled in the Sahara, then on the borders to
divide their territory into several parts. Population
counts more than 1 million inhabitants spread over 5 countries:
Niger, Mali, Burkina-Faso, Libya, and Algeria with approximately 20,000
Tuaregs who are divided between Tamanrasset in Ahaggar and Djanet in
Tassili N'Ajjers. Tuareg society is made up of several
tribes and is hierarchized in a feudal way under a lord called
Amenokhal. Each tribe has its own leader called Amghar. These are
the chiefs of each tribe who elect the Amenokhal.

Day 08

TAMANRASSET – EUROPE

Breakfast at the hotel or inn.
Afternoon or free day in Tamanrasset, depending on the return flight schedule.
Transfer with assistance to Tamanrasset airport.
Flight to Europe on a regular flight via Algiers.

THE SPIRIT OF TRAVEL
Tamanrasset, mythical city, is the starting point of this
Saharan expedition which gradually reveals its great
diversity of desert reliefs and its geological treasures
spectacular: Hoggar and Assekrem sites with the hermitage
from Father de Foucauld, to the Tassilis du Hoggar and its mineral archipelagos
bordered by the draping of the dunes, passing by the cool waterfalls of
Tamekreste which give a "seaside" touch to this mineral world,
set off aboard a 4x4 to discover the most sumptuous and
spectacular landscapes of the central Sahara, which can be visited as a
erosion museum.
